Poker em, Velden Austria -- July 2019
Rikard Aberg went to Velden, Austria with a group of players from Intertops Poker and Juicy Stakes Casino. They'd each won a prize package that included buy-in to the Main Event. Here's Rikard's videos:
A trip to a poker tournament can be so much more than just playing poker. During Poker EM in Velden, the Intertops qualifiers obviously played the Main Event, but they also enjoyed a great barbecue outside the casino, facing the beautiful lake Wörthersee.
Each year, the last two weeks in july, the best place to play poker in Europe is Velden Austria. Poker pro Erich Kollmann has come to Casino Velden each summer for his entire adult life and after a fourth place finish in the PLO championship on Monday, he welcomes all players to join him for Wednesday's Main Event start.
It is THAT time of the year, when Intertops travels to Velden with the online qualifiers to take part in the lovely Poker EM at Casino Velden. Poker Manager Hjalmar Lethin talks to Rikard Aberg about the coming week inside and outside the poker room and the great group of qualifiers who are representing Intertops in this tournament.
Aleksandr Bondarev from St Petersburg, managed to win one of the Poker EM satellites online on Intertops. He came all the way to Velden and he brought his friend and Mentor Aleksandr Kopasov, who will also play in the tournament. Here Bondarev talks about his way into poker, how he turned pro and why he really likes being in Velden.
One of the online satellite winners, in Intertops’ campaign leading to this year’s Poker EM in Velden, was Eduardo Rocha from Curitiba in Brazil. He is already loving the Austrian village by the lake Wörthersee.
Intertops online satellite winner Hussain Sajwani from Chicago, US, brought his girlfriend along for the poker adventure in Europe. After a really long trip across the pond, he is set to make his mark on European poker soil.

WSOPC Caribbean St Maarten: Final Day, Phil Places 17th in Main Event
Down to fewer than ten big blinds, Intertops Poker qualifier Phillip Cardella moved all in and Michael Lech in the small blind reshoved.
Cardella had a flip with ace-queen suited against pocket jacks, but Lech immediately flopped a set and left his opponent drawing dead on the turn.
Nevertheless, our man Phil came in 17th, cashing in $3,500.
All of the players on the Intertops Poker / Juicy Stakes Casino team had a fantastic time and are looking forward to going back to St Maarten for some nice poker action and beautiful beaches.

Main Event Day 2 was a tough one for Team Intertops

After almost nine levels of 60 minutes each, the 2019 WSOPC Caribbean $1,700 Main Event has reached the money. All remaining 18 players out of 165 entries have $3,500 locked up for their efforts, but all eyes are set on the top prize of $67,000.
Intertops Poker qualifier Phillip Cardella was one of the players that doubled on the stone-cold money bubble and bagged up 107,000. He's looking to get back into the action today at 3:30pm local time to fight for the prize money and the WSOPC ring.
While our other players were eliminated during Day 2, some went back playing various cash games or played at the Event #32 NLHE $400 like German qualifier Lukas Wahlster. This semi-turbo event saw a lot of action but Lukas made his way to the final table, eliminated in 6th place with TT against QQ. In addition to winning some nice extra cash for his trip he had a great time so far in the event and is enjoying his spare time in the Caribbean.

Online Satellite Champions Head to the Caribbean for the WSOPC St Maarten
We’re off to the Caribbean again this week with a group of online players that won seats at the WSOPC St Maarten Main Event. Lukas, Daniel, Phil, Chris and Chris will converge on the Caribbean from Germany, Hungary and America. We’ll follow their experience at the two-day tournament and we’ll hang out with them as they enjoy the unique tropical island.
In addition to the Main Event, there'll be lots of other action at the newly re-built Casino Royale, but for sure our players are going to want to hit the beaches and bars!
The Sonesta Maho Beach Resort where the players will be staying is between the casino and the famous beach where everyone goes to
get blown around by KLM 747s. That may be
how most people know St Maarten, but poker players know it as a great place to
play poker!
“I
played a $2 rebuy to win a seat into the $110 satellite where I won this
trip!” said Phil who also won his way to
Punta Cana three years ago. “I’m a recreational player. I work for
an architect firm in Pittsburgh, but I play tournaments at the casino near me
every now and then. Really looking
forward to going back to St Maarten!”
Lukas
has won a seat in St Maarten before and also won a satellite for the
WPT National in Venice. Last fall he won his way into the €500,000 Malta Poker Festival.
“I’m
bring my girlfriend with me so she can relax at the beach and pool while I’m in
the casino, hopefully getting my first Hendon Mob listing!” he said.
“It’s a win-win situation – if I bust out early, I can have some fun in
the sun with my girlfriend!”
Chris Perkins won his way to St Maarten a couple of years ago. Since that first taste of international
competition, he’s quit his day job and has been travelling and playing poker.
“I'm super excited to go back to the
island,” said Chris. “I hope everything looks close to normal after the
hurricane.”
The WSOPC St Maarten, now in its fourth
year, is a well-run tournament produced by TK Poker. It attracts all kinds of players –
professionals, semi-professionals, and recreational – from all over the world.
In addition to the main event, there will be lots of cash games to keep the
players busy. Not to mention 27 beaches…
